How long does Gamestop hold an item?

If I put something on hold online for in store pick up, how long does Gamestop hold the item?

I used to work for Gamestop and we used to hold the game for the customers for over a month, then we would call them and remind them after a month that their game was available, if they did not respond after a week we would take their copy and put it out for other customers to purchase. It might be different now but back then when I was there that's how we ran things.... Show More

Anywhere between 2-5 days pending on the availability and demand of the game... Ex. Skyrim would be 2 days probably but a game like modern warfare would be longer.... Show More

They've told me before that if I pre-order a game, I have to pick it up within 48 hours of it's release otherwise they will sell it to others. Now that does not mean your money is gone, it just means that your copy is no longer reserved, and if they are sold out, you will have to wait for the next shipment of games to pick it up....
