How long does it take for financial aid to process?

Mine only took 2 weeks. I suggest you contact the college’s Financial Aid office. You wouldn’t want the semester to start without aid because of an error. However, if it is your first time applying on FASFA, then it might take longer. After filing it takes 2 weeks to be processed and go through and it will say processed when you log in. About 2 weeks after that you should get an email stating your SAR, student aid report is ready and a link to it so you can see it and print it. They send your SAR automatically to the colleges you listed on your FAFSA. Those colleges to which you applied to and offered admittance will create an award for you. Usually awards for fall go out the early mid April. My daughter got her award first week of April. You will have to accept and deny what you want to take. Federal loans will require online entrance counseling where you read about the loans so you know what you are signing and then first year you need an MPN that you use the 4 years to sign online contracts. Usually you will receive half your award per semester. My daughters college has 2 disbursement dates, one before each semester. That is the date all the students will receive their federal aid in their college accounts. For fall last year my daughter started college first week of Sept and got her first disbursement of half her aid on 8/25 on the first disbursement date. The aid was put into her college account and then the college took out their charges of tuition, fees, meals and housing.
