meaning of silver and cold?
What is the meaning of "Silver Tongue" and "Cold" in the music video by AFI? I would like to understand the themes and symbolism presented in the video.

It is about suicide and throwing away the things that mean most to you before you go.
The music video begins with shots of Prague, where the video was filmed. As the guitar begins we see Davey looking sorrowful somewhere outside, while the other band members are drinking coffee and generally having a good time in a cafe. A shot of a medium-sized splash (if you pay attention later you’ll recognize the splash as the one made by Davey’s watch) coincides with Adam dropping a sugarcube into his coffee. In the background, Jade is on the phone with someone and looks concerned. Shots of Davey singing are spaced between shots of the cafe, with Hunter and Adam becoming increasingly aware of Jade’s distress until Jade informs them of something important (although the actual dialogue is disputed, it is sometimes thought to be, "Get him. He’s gonna jump!" or "It’s him. He’s on the bridge."). The three race out of the cafe, leaving the phone off the hook and hanging by its cord, possibly to stall for time.
Now outside, Adam, Hunter, and Jade are seen running, as Davey takes off his jacket. A flashback scene is shown, in which Davey enters a phonebooth and is speaking on the phone with Jade; the call from the cafe. Davey looks toward the nearby bridge and the present is shown: Davey stands on the edge of the bridge looking down at the water. Although implied by the scenery and Jade’s concern in the cafe, this is the first scene that actually suggests that Davey is planning to jump.
Hunter and Jade run past a car, but Adam stops in his tracks and then commandeers it. The three get in and speed off, with Adam driving. As the car races down alleys and careens around corners Davey is shown on the bridge, apparently contemplating his suicide. He removes his watch, possibly a symbol for time, and drops it into the water far below. A ring, possibly a symbol for relationships or worldly commitments, soon follows. Soon thereafter a larger splash is seen that could not possibly be anything other than Davey himself, though whether this is an actual event or simply imagined or desired by Davey is up to debate.
Adam’s driving becomes increasingly more reckless as they speed toward their destination, and as they near we see a truck cross the bridge at a somewhat high speed. We switch to the three’s point of view and see that Davey is visible standing at the edge of the bridge and Jade points towards him. Adam turns but notices the speeding truck too late and crashes head-on into it, resulting in a rather large explosion that presumably kills all involved. A chilling shot is seen of Davey’s face, eyes downcast, the crash explosion in the background. As the fireball balloons upward Davey looks directly into the camera, almost knowingly, as he turns and steps off the bridge back onto the safety of the street. Seemingly unaware of the crash behind him or the occupants thereof, as worried onlookers rush toward the scene, Davey simply pulls on his jacket, his arm seeming to pass through a worried onlooker, and walks away.

I love the song Silver and Cold, but I do not quite understand. Do you mean what it is actually saying?? Here is the link to the lyrics, it is almost like reading a story… it should be easier to interpret… http://www.lyrics007.com/A.F.I.%20(AFI)%20Lyrics/S… Wow… whoever writes the songs has a big vocabulary…

I am a firm believer that someone should form their own opinion of mean of songs all on their own.
You can read a bunch of people’s opinion of what this song means to them at this site:

I beleive it’s about the typical old obsessive relationship that is over.
"Silver And Cold"
I… I came here by day, but I left here in darkness
And found you, found you on the way
And now, it is silver and silent, it is silver and cold
You, in somber resplendence, I hold
Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I’ll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me) Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one
Light, like the flutter of wings, feel your hollow voice rushing into me
As you’re longing to sing
So I… I will paint you in silver, I will wrap you in cold
I will lift up your voice as I sink
Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one, now
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I’ll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me) Your sins into me
Cold in life’s throws, I’ll fall asleep for you
Cold in life’s throws, I only ask you turn away
Cold in life’s throws, I’ll fall asleep for you
Cold in life’s throws, I only ask you turn
As they seep… into me, oh, my beautiful one, now
Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I’ll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me)
Your sins into me… oh
Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one, now
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I’ll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me) Your sins into…
(Your sins into me) Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one
