My testicle hurts when i cough?

Whenever I cough, my left testicle hurts significantly. I currently have a cold and am coughing frequently, which makes this quite uncomfortable. I've experienced similar pain occasionally when running. This pain started last night, and I'm wondering if it will go away on its own or if I should consider seeing a doctor. I find that pushing my knees into my chest slightly alleviates the pain when I cough.

Have you been checking your testicles to see if there were any lumps, swellings, etc….

The pain you may be feeling in the testicles doesn’t necessarily mean that the cause is in the testicles as well. You may be experiencing testicle pain due to back problems, urethra, it could be caused by kidney stones…..

Anyway, have you been lifting anything hard lately? It is also possible that you have an inguinal hernia. This means that a part of your intestines have protruded through an opening in the lower part of the abdomen, near the groin. It happens sometimes that the protruding piece enters the scrotum and cause swelling and pain in the testicles.

You may want to check if there is a lump in the groins as this is one the most possible symptoms of inguinal hernias.

I would have it checked if I were you. A scrotal ultrasound should be able to show everything and I reckon you should have one or at least visit an urologist first and see what he has to say.

I know I'm a girl , but I have been studying to be a doctor, but have you ever got a physical check? Usually the doctor will put his hands right under the testicles and tell you to cough, that is to check if you have lumps, I recommend going to a doctor to not make things worse, even though it has been for over 5 years!

I'm a testicular cancer survivor and would suggest you do the self-exam for testicular cancer. Symptoms vary greatly from man to man, but abdomen pain and testicle discomfort are common symptoms. There are several types of testicular cancer and some are more aggressive than others. The sooner a doctor can catch it the better the prognosis. Good luck and hopefully it's nothing serious. It could be a blocked vein or an infection too. Oh by the way, this site shows the self-exam and has a list of possible symptoms, as well as links to credible sources:

It sounds like you have tight muscles in your back pressing onto the nerves going to your testicles to cause them this pain. That would explain why when you pull your knees up that you get relief, you are actually spreading your spine in the back taking pressure off the muscles. to get rid of the pain you have to free up your back muscles and here's how to do that:

Back:

(do while sitting on a chair)

Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front, and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm as straight as possible. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, then release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.

For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
