What does beef tongue taste like?
My aunt has invited my brother and me over for dinner tomorrow, and she plans to serve beef tongue. I've seen pictures of it online, and I must admit, it looks quite unappealing to me. Can anyone describe what beef tongue tastes like and what its texture is like? I'm a bit apprehensive about trying something that might be off-putting, but I also want to be considerate of my aunt's feelings.

It's actually quite good. Slices from the back portion are softer than the front while the front is a little bit more chewy and less strong tasting. Taste is somewhere between beef brisket and stewing/soup beef. Good with horseradish. What time do we eat!
Eating tongue is a lot easier than having to look at it before you cook it. Tongue is yummy! It tastes like beef light. A rancher friend used to give me corned tongues which were also yummy. I like tongue with mustard on the side. Tongue sandwiches are also good.
Hopefully, your aunt will present her tongue at the dinner table presliced on a nice platter. It really doesn't look like a tongue once it's cooked, etc. but since it's your first time, it should look as pleasant as possible.
Remember: the tongue is a muscle just like any other muscle in the cow. The meat on steaks, roasts and ribs are also muscle and you don't have any trouble eating them so you won't have any trouble giving your aunt's tongue a little taste.

What does beef tongue taste like?
My aunt wants me and my brother to come over for dinner tomorrow. She is making beef tongue. I've been looking at pictures on the internet and it looks pretty gross. What does it taste like and what texture? I really don't want to taste something that can taste me back but I also don't...
Mild and delicate.I think you will like it. Some people won't even try it because it's a tonue. Too bad for them. It makes good sanwiches too. Make a sanwich with some like you would with leftover roast beef with salt and pepper and onions and a little mayo.
ᑕнιcκen - NO REALLY just joking!
It has a firm texture and it is tasty. She might do it sweet and sour german style or serve it as an appetizer with honey mustard and crackers or in a sandwich.
the cow is dead - it cannot hurt you - tongues are selling for $20 each in Japan - go figure!
