What does the phrase "You enlightened my day" mean? Could someone explain its context and usage?

I think it means that they use the wrong word.
I would have expected them to say either ” you brightened up my day” or ” you enlivened my day”.
Enlightenment means understanding. So unless the writer means that the person helped them understand something that day I suspect they used the wrong word.
